The refurbishment of Mosaic Rooms represents the considered adaptation of a Victorian building into a contemporary cultural environment focused on accessibility, learning and participation. Designed by A Small Studio, the project re-presents the Tower House as a welcoming destination for exhibitions, creative education and community engagement.
Furniture elements manufactured by Plykea form an integral part of the interior scheme, with cabinetry fronts finished in Formica® laminates and FENIX® innovative materials. Selected for their durability, depth of colour and suitability for everyday use, the surfaces respond to the practical demands of a busy public building.
Design Approach
The refreshed interiors combine a calm aesthetic with expressive moments of colour, ranging from gallery and retail areas to active, hands-on learning environments.
Throughout the building, Plykea cabinetry provides visual continuity, while variations in colour and finish help define the identity of individual areas.
Why FENIX and Formica Laminate
Formica laminate and FENIX innovative materials were specified in collaboration with Plykea for their proven performance and versatile colour range, supporting the project’s distinctive visual theme.
Together, the materials provide long lasting solutions that enhance both the functional and emotional quality of the interiors.
