London-based designer Tino Seubert has created the Hana collection – a refined series of side tables and a sideboard that showcase the creative versatility of Formica Laminate. Inspired by the simplicity and precision of traditional Japanese carpentry, the name “Hana” (meaning flower in Japanese) refers to the distinctive pattern created by four wooden dowels piercing through the surface, giving each piece a unique visual signature.

For this modern laminate furniture design, Tino selected Formica laminate in four striking yet harmonious decors: F4155 Sun, F8822 Denim, F5342 Earth, and F2005 Paprika – all in a tactile matte finish. These colours were paired with oiled oak and walnut to create warm, inviting surfaces with a sophisticated edge. The matte laminate not only enhances the visual appeal but also offers exceptional durability, making it ideal for everyday use.

The combination of colour choice, matte texture, and durability made Formica laminate the ideal fit for this project – qualities that have made it a material of choice for decades. Discover how Formica Laminate earned its place at the heart of furniture design.

The Hana collection was created during lockdown, when Tino began designing pieces for friends and family. The first editions combined oiled oak with the Denim laminate and oiled walnut with the Sun decor, which inspired the wider range. Today, the collection is available in custom finishes and sizes, from compact side tables to statement sideboards, allowing each piece to be tailored to suit individual interiors.

“Formica laminate has great durability, a vast choice of colours and I love that slim brown line on the edge.” Tino Seubert
